Munster await Billy Burns scan

Munster have yet to provide a progress report on the severity of the shoulder damage Billy Burns sustained, which resulted in his exit during the 54th minute in their 35-33 triumph against Connacht at Thomond Park the previous Saturday. The region is yet to receive the results of the fly-half’s injury scan, stating that a decision regarding Burns’ participation in the forthcoming BKT URC match against Zebre Parma will be made later this week. An additional update clarified that Patrick Campbell also incurred a shoulder injury during an AIL game for Young Munster and is due for a specialist’s review.

In the meantime, Dave Kilcoyne is set to resume full training this week. Other players currently on the mend include Diarmuid Kilgallen (leg), Brian Gleeson (shoulder), Cian Hurley (knee), Tom Ahern (ankle), Rory Scannell (ankle), Paddy Patterson (knee), Edwin Edogbo (Achilles), and Roman Salanoa (knee).

In related news, Tommy O’Brien of Leinster and Emerging Ireland pulled out due to a hamstring injury suffered during a match, and further appraisal will be necessary before his duties with Emerging Ireland are determined. Recent recruit, RG Snyman, is scheduled to ramp up his recovery programme as he approaches a comeback from a foot injury. James Culhane exited towards the end of a match for a Head Injury Assessment but has since cleared all tests. He will be up for selection this weekend and eligible to join the Emerging Ireland team. On the other hand, Michael Milne, who suffered an ankle injury on Friday, is set for further evaluation this week.
