According to the reports from Bild, a man randomly attacked people with a knife during a city festival in Solingen, a city in western Germany, leading to the death of several people on the fateful Friday night. The incident happened at roughly 9.45pm local time, resulting in at least three fatalities and many injuries.
The Solingen Tageblatt, a local news outlet, reported that the perpetrator of the attack had not been apprehended yet as per the witnesses. This devastating incident happened at an event celebrating the town’s commemoration of 650 years of existence.
Philipp Muller, one of the festival’s organisers, declared that medical professionals were attempting to save the lives of nine individuals. The local authorities advised the inhabitants to evacuate the city centre of Solingen.
Home to about 160,000 residents, Solingen lies in close proximity to larger cities such as Cologne and Düsseldorf. The local police have yet to make an official statement about the incident.
