Oisín Mullin, ex-Mayo football player, has agreed to a contract renewal with AFL team Geelong, securing his position with the Cats until at least the 2025 season finishes. Mullin, who earned the accolades of GAA young footballer of the year in both 2020 and 2021, was initially taken on as a rookie for the 2023 season with Geelong and following a standout first season, has been offered an updated contract by the club. The 24-year-old participated in six matches in 2023 and although not featured in Geelong’s initial fixture against St Kilda in the 2024 season, he is anticipated to play a significant role in the team’s future plans. Andrew Mackie, the General Manager of Geelong, praised Oisin’s brave choice to relocate to Australia stating that his positive integration into their football program had made them extremely pleased with his progress.
