Motorcyclist Dies in Longford Road Crash

A tragic single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a man in his 30s overnight in Kilnashee, Drumlish, County Longford. The accident, which occurred early Saturday morning around 1:15 am was responded to by both Gardaí and paramedics, who declared the male motorcyclist dead at the scene.

Following the horrific incident, the R198 road between Longford and Drumlish remained shut on Saturday, allowing for a detailed analysis of the scene. Consequently, traffic was diverted elsewhere.

The Gardaí are now urging any potential witnesses of the fatal crash, including those in possession of video evidence, to step forward.

The topic of significant reductions in income tax and USC for taxpayers in Budget 2025 also merits attention. Meanwhile, Eamon Dunphy is addressing accusations of becoming a professional controversialist, akin to what happened to ‘Roy Keane’. Questions regarding a more affordable alternative to Center Parcs, either domestically or internationally, are also rising.

The tragic incident marks the 16th death of a motorcyclist and the 118th fatality on Irish roads in the year 2024 alone, highlighting a worrying upward trend. The current death toll notably surpasses last year’s 103 fatalities recorded over the same period.
