The weather at Silverstone was sunny and dry even if there was still a stiff wind blowing for this morning’s MotoGP’s warm-up practice and for several riders lap times dropped compared to their qualifying times.
The fastest rider was Jorge Lorenzo who had several runs under the 2.
04 mark and finally stopped the clock in 2’03″763.
Nicky Hayden was an excellent second and proving that he would have been higher on today’s starting grid if he hadn’t crashed out at the Vale yesterday, as he was just 0.
219s from Lorenzo.
Putting his Honda into third was Casey Stoner who as usual was in and out of his garage for a total of seven laps and he too was just a little of two tenths of a second adrift for the top Yamaha rider.
Ben Spies show great consistency as he finished fourth ahead of Andrea Dovizioso and Silverstone pole man Alvaro Bautista.
Hector Barbera had another good session as he seventh and a little less than eighth tenths off pace, the new electronics on his GP12 Valencia version is doing wonders for the Spaniard.
Stefan Bradl was eighth and the last rider to be within a second from the top of the timesheets.
Valentino Rossi ended up 9th but he managed to shave off almost a second from his yesterday’s qualifying time and avoiding the bump at the Vale like the plague.
Cal Crutchlow received the all clear from the Silverstone medics and griting his teeth for his home crowd he took the 10th spot.
Mattia Pasini had an awful session, he crashed out at the start of the practice and when he returned to track with his second bike it died on him and he didn’t record one single lap.
James Ellison had a big highside at the Woodcote and he limped off track assisted by the marshals.
