MotoGP Silverstone: Casey Stoner confirms pace in FP3

MotoGPs final free practice at Silverstone was done in the worst possible conditions, the track were treacherously damp as it first started drizzling during Moto3s practice session and several drops of rain wet the surface occasionally during the 45 minutes and these tricky conditions immediately caught out several riders from Ivan Silva, to Stefan Bradl who sustained a fracture to his 4th finger of his left hand and getting the worse was Cal Crutchlow, who had a hard crash at the Chapel.

The British rider tumbled towards the gravel trap and seemed have hit his head and then his shoulder, but the first medical assessments are reporting a suspected fracture to his left ankle with ligament damage and a suspected collarbone fracture.
Casey Stoner was the fastest rider heading into this afternoon’s qualifying.
The Australian bettered his lap time in the dying minutes of session posting a 2’03″941, which was four tenths faster than championship rival Jorge Lorenzo, who finally moved up the timesheets to take second.
Ben Spies took the third spot just 0.
070s from his team mate and ahead of Yamaha satellite rider Andrea Dovizioso.

Alvaro Bautista had another good session and he was 5th with his satellite Honda and the last rider to be within a second from the top of timesheets and he was ahead of Dani Pedrosa who seems to be struggling at the British circuit (last year he missed the English GP due to injury).
Nicky Hayden was once again the fastest Ducati rider in 7th, followed by Pramac Ducati’s Hector Barbera and Valentino Rossi.
The Italian has yet to find a proper set-up as he was still a massive 2.
6 seconds from Stoner.
With Bradl and Crutchlow in the medical center, Randy de Puniet put his ART into 10th.
