MotoGP riders to face off in kart race for Marco Simoncelli Foundation

Three years ago during the San Marino GP weekend, Marco Simoncelli and his friends decided to organize a kart race, that was dubbed ‘Spurtleda’ (Italian dialect for bashing fairings) due to the high level of fun that they had.
Last year the Spurtleda was re-organized by his old friends who added the late Simoncelli’s racing number 58 and this year they have gone all ou,t and have invited the MotoGP riders to take part in this charity event and the response from riders to partecipate was overwhelming.

Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez, Andrea Dovizioso, Andrea Iannone, Stefan Bradl, Colin Edwards Bradley Smith, Randy de Puniet, Aleix and Pol Espargaro, Karel Abraham, Scott Redding and Toni Elias, before this weekend’s Misano races will hit the Riccione kart track on Wednesday, September 11th at 9:30pm to race against each other.
The cost of the ticket is 10 euros and all the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Marco Simoncelli Foundation.
Former WSBK rider Mauro Sanchini along with Italia 1’s MotoGP commentators Guido Meda and Paolo Beltramo will be doing the commentating, and Graziano Rossi, Valentino’s father and former rider, will also be present and he be showing off his drifting capabilities – something he and the late Simoncelli often did together.

After the jump you can see the video of one of the kart races that Simoncelli, Rossi, Iannone and Mattia Pasini had.
