MotoGP Laguna Seca – Dani Pedrosa takes USGP win

It was Dani Pedrosa who was the surprise winner at Laguna Seca.
The Repsol Honda rider who was fourth on the grid took the holeshot and was off and lead the race for the entire 32 laps.
Valentino Rossi was second, but on the final lap Pedrosa slowed down and lost 1.

2 seconds to Rossi who tried to pass the Repsol Honda rider, but was just too far off, but settled for second just 0.
344 from Pedrosa.
It was an impressive and stoic Jorge Lorenzo, who despite his discolated collarbone and a fractured bone in his foot, wasn’t giving up on this race.
After passing Casey Stoner, He started his attack on Rossi, chewing up tenths of seconds on his team mate and with 5 laps to go tried to out brake Rossi at turn 11, but briefly lost control of the front of his M1 and had to run wide, but still continued to ride hard to finish a fantastic third.
Casey Stoner was fourth.
The Ducati rider ran second and third for almost half the race, but started to fade when Lorenzo caught up with him.

Stoner is still battling a mysterious disease that is sapping his energy.
Nicky Hayden with his special Laguna Seca livery and leathers came fifth, his season best on the factory Ducati.
Toni Elias finished sixth, Elias was just .
378 of a second behind Hayden and it was also his best result this season.
Colin Edwards finished a lonely seventh, while Chris Vermeulen and Randy de Puniet were eighth and ninth.
Marco Melandri managed 10th holding back Alex de Angelis.
12th place went to Niccolò Canepa.
Only twelve of the starting 17 riders finished the race.
Gabor Talmacsi, Andrea Dovizioso, Sete Gibernau and Loris Capirossi all crashed and were not able to restart, while James Toseland was black flagged after failing to serve a ride through penalty for a jump start.
