Dani Pedrosa was the last rider to enter the track at Jerez for FP3, trying to save the strength in his arm for this afternoon’s qualifying session, but it only took him just four laps to get to top speed, dip under the 1.
39 mark with a scorching lap of 1.
38.
864 and break his own 2010 Jerez race lap record.
No other rider was able to get close to him, even if Casey Stoner tried to to do it in the last minutes of the practice, but ended up in second and three tenths of a second adrift, losing most of his time in the last sector.
Stoner was closely followed by Gresini’s Marco Simoncelli, who seems to have found that extra grip on used tires that he was looking for yesterday.
Fourth went to Jorge Lorenzo who faster today, but couldn’t bridge that gap from the Honda’s and is still chasing solutions to his front end problems and rear grip.
While Ducati’s fastest rider wasn’t Valentino Rossi who finished sixth, but Randy de Puniet who took fifth and he was a mere 0.
013s from Lorenzo’s best lap time.
Cal Crutchlow had a great session finishing in seventh riding Jerez for the first time, however his satellite M1 was 1.
299s from Pedrosa’s Honda, but he was in front of his team mate Colin Edwards who took 8th.
Ben Spies is still struggling to find his comfort zone at the Spanish track ended up in 9th, followed by Andrea Dovizioso, who closed out the top ten, but can’t seem to get it together after yesterday’s crash and hasn’t improved his lap times.
