MotoGP Assen: Tight FP2 sees Ben Spies prevail

MotoGP’s FP2 at Assen turned out to be almost a qualifying session in the last minutes and it was also very tight with eleven riders in less than half a second (something that hasn’t ever happened so far this season) and in this practice it was Ben Spies who grabbed the top of the timesheets.

The Yamaha factory rider who looks like he has a better race pace, especially in the fourth sectore than the rest of field lapped in 1′34.
866 but he was tailed by Yamaha Tech3’s Cal Crutchlow who was a mere 0.
006 adrift.
Ducati’s Nicky Hayden had an amazing run and finished third and he was just a tenth adrift followed by Silverstone’s poleman Alvaro Bautista in fourth.
Jorge Lorenzo was fifth and he was just 0.
191s from his team mate.
Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa was 6th, while Casey Stoner who naturally lapped less than anyone (only four flying laps) was 10th (+ 0.
438) and he even cut the session short after trying the new chassis again.
Andrea Dovizioso was seventh, while Valentino Rossi was 8th in his best practice session in the dry ever, while Hector Barbera who crashed out on his first sighting lap was ninth.

The fastest CRT rider was Aleix Espargaro, three tenths faster that his team mate Randy de Puniet (the Aspar team may debut the Aprilia RSV4 gear driven camshaft engine in the near future according to Gino Borsoi).
