Moto2 Mugello: Andrea Iannone Romps Away with Win

Andrea Iannone surprise pole position in yesterday’s qualifying session at the Mugello was no fluke because the Italian rider literally romped away with the first flag to flag victory in Moto2 and his first of the season.
Iannone who hails from the Abruzzo region, took command of the race and at the end of the first lap had 1.

5s lead that doubled after just three laps and with more than a seven second advantage, administered the rest of his race and cruised under the chequered flag.
Second and third place on the podium went Sergio Gadea and Simone Corsi, but it was a battle royale, with Corsi fighting through the field from his 26th spot on the grid and at least six different riders all leading the group in different moments of the race but Gadea went by Corsi on the final turn and denying the Italian the second spot by just 0.
035s and Corsi denying Thomas Luthi third by a mere 0.
015s.
Toni Elias, the current points leader managed a fifth finish, but kept Shoya Tomizawa, his nearest rival in sixth place and gained one extra point against the Japanese rider.

Iannone’s team mate Gabor Talmacsi took seventh ahead of Yuki Takahashi (both former MotoGP riders in Team Scot), while Julian Simon managed a ninth place on his second outing with the Suter chassis and Alex Debon closed out the top ten.
Crashers included Jules Cluzel, Anthony Delhalle who was subbing for Mashel Al Naimi, Axel Pons, Mattia Pasini and Raffaele De Rosa.
