When you love-hate the personality of a legendary rider, and all of a sudden he does something that turns all your certainties upside down, like ‘King’ Carl Fogarty recently did.
The four times Superbike champion via Twitter, unexpectedly apologized to several of his former rivals, which makes you think that if he apologizes, then everyone sooner or later will go through a mid–life crisis and want to atone for something.
Fogarty was never the one to back off from very hard racing, post race controversy and insulting his rivals, making the highly publized Rossi vs Biaggi rivalry, on and off track bickering look like playground stuff.
Now Foggy has written: “Been thinking.
.
I just want to say sorry for the things I said when I was racing.
Mainly to aaron slight, scott russel, colin edwards and …” and then added “John kockinski.
.
sorry!”Strangely enough Italian riders like Pierfrancesco Chili don’t appear on his radar after what happened at Assen in 1998, which will go down in post racing history, nor do Giancarlo Falappa, Fabrizio Pirovano and others, while his former rivals will hopefully turn a blind eye to Foggy’s character back in the heydays by not reading again Foggy: The Explosive Autobiography.
