Michele Pirro to test Ducati GP12 at Mugello

Yamaha, Repsol Honda and LCR Honda will be starting a private two-day test at the Motorland Aragon circuit today, while Ducati will have its test team back at Mugello for a three-day test, after testing with Valentino Rossi at Misano last week.
Joining Ducati’s test team will be once again Andrea Iannone – whose option with the Italian manufacturer will expire in the next few days – and instead of Danilo Petrucci who was originally programmed to have another go on the GP12 this week, Ducati has decided to give Gresini’s CRT rider Michele Pirro the opportunity after he expressed the desire to try the try the red machine.

For Pirro it will be his first time on a MotoGP prototype, while Petrucci will be at the Vairano circuit in Italy getting to know his new BMW-Suter machine, that IodaRacing team will debut at GP Aperol di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.
Following this test session at Mugello, Ducati is expected to clarify their plans for their Junior Team and announce the names of the two riders they have chosen for 2013.
