“Metis Ireland Plans Two-Year Expansion”

Metis Ireland, a financial advisory firm based in Limerick, plans to raise its employee count by half while doubling the €365 million portfolio it currently oversees in the coming two years. The company began operations in Limerick in 2014, providing wealth management and financial advisory services to individuals, businesses, and families.

At present, Metis Ireland supervises €365 million for over a thousand clients and witnessed a 26% upsurge in turnover to €1.97 million in 2022, registering an operating profit of €89,250. The enterprise, employing over 20 staff members, aims to introduce up to ten new job positions to meet its growth objectives in the next couple of years.

Former football player for Dublin GAA’s Paddy Andrews, now an employee at Metis, has been designated as the director of private clients at the organisation’s Dublin office where most of its growth is anticipated. Mr. Andrews remarked the company is ambitious and ready to rapidly augment the assets it manages. He also revealed that the company is actively hiring in Dublin across various business levels, after having recently enlarged its back-office client services team. The aim is now on recruiting financial advisors and private client managers.

After a recent buyout of a 50% stake from its shareholder Davy, the staff and board at Metis claimed ownership of the venture. Mr Andrews stated the firm’s aim is to vie with larger contenders in Dublin’s market, by delivering a tailored service. He believes that while traditional banks and wealth management firms are established competitors, the advantage of Metis as a smaller business is the ability to personalise and adjust its services to the clients’ needs.

Addressing his past as a seven-time All-Ireland winner with the Dublin’s football team, Mr Andrews asserted that the skills acquired on the field only take one so far in the finance sector.

“It’s my belief that working in a team setting teaches you a lot about organisational structure, discipline and sheer grit. However, in order to effectively manage families’ finances and assets, it’s crucial to have a deep understanding of the subject. Securing All-Irelands victories is indeed gratifying, yet my certifications as a financial planner, which I obtained while at Davy, and my MBA, which I pursued shortly after retirement, specifically geared towards business strategy and team management, have provided a pivotal foundation for me,” he articulated.
