An accusation for an alleged assault by a woman against Conor McGregor, a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, will be brought to the High Court in the coming month. The young female claimant, who reportedly knows McGregor, filed the lawsuit, which McGregor, a native of Crumlin, vehemently denies. The legal proceedings will take place before a jury judged by a High Court official and were briefly discussed by Mr Justice Alexander Owens last Thursday.
Following discussions with the woman’s representative, Siún Leonowicz BL, who confirmed the case was ready to proceed, the judge scheduled the hearing to take place in the week of April 23rd. The case is only expected to go to trial after the resolution of several other cases lined up for that week.
This case is the first of two that have been filed against McGregor pertaining to incidents alleged to have occurred in 2018. An associate of McGregor was also sued by the plaintiff in her proceedings, which were lodged in the High Court in 2021, though no specific details about her claim have been publicly revealed so far.
A separate personal injury lawsuit has also been filed by the woman’s mother against McGregor, however, this case is not slated to be presented before a jury. Both these accusations against McGregor are firmly denied by him. David Coleman of Coleman Legal Partners represents the two women accusing McGregor, while McGregor himself is represented by Michael J Staines & Company.
