The Mayo senior football team confirmed Kevin McStay as its manager for the 2025 season, according to a recent announcement that came after the completion of the Mayo GAA’s annual review.
McStay officially took on the role as Mayo’s manager in August 2022, having succeeded James Horan for a four-year tenure.
Despite a disheartening single-point defeat to Galway in the Connacht final during his second term, the Ballina native still has the faith of the management.
As for the All-Ireland group stages, Mayo convincingly defeated Cavan in the first round and squeaked past Roscommon, a team McStay formerly managed. In the final round, they finished with a tie against Dublin, which allowed them to progress to the preliminary quarter-finals before a heart-wrenching loss to Derry in the penalty stage ensued.
McStay’s tenure extension was confirmed through a statement by Mayo GAA recently. The Mayo GAA Coiste Bainistí expressed their good wishes for the management team and the players for the 2025 season.
