“Mayo Crash Victims’ Funeral in Donegal”

The funeral service for a mother and her two young daughters, who tragically lost their lives in a vehicle collision in County Mayo, is set to be held in County Donegal next week. Una Carlin Bowden and her two children, Ciara, aged 14, and Saoirse, aged 9, perished when their vehicle collided with a lorry near Swinford.

David Bowden, husband to Una and father to the girls, was overseas working with the United Nations when the tragic incident occurred. It’s thought that the family were on their way back from a visit to Una’s father, John Carlin, in Raphoe at the time of the incident.

The deceased will be laid to rest next to Una’s late mother in a cemetery located in the village of Convoy. An anticipated hundreds of mourners will gather for the wake, being held from Monday to Wednesday in Raphoe.

Una, aged 47, and her children were residents of Moycullen, County Galway, for several years. The family had just completed the renovation of their traditional cottage in recent weeks. They were central figures in the Moycullen community, actively participating in several groups, notably the local basketball club.
