Even if it isn’t official yet, former two-time World Superbike champion Max Biaggi will be returning to World Superbikes this season – not that he has had a change of heart on his decision to retire – but as a WSBK commentator for Sportmediaset, with the announcement to be made tomorrow.
The news was leaked by the excellent and now ex LA7 commentator Mauro Sanchini (for non Italians you’ve heard his voice doing commentary on some of Valentino Rossi’s Motoranch videos and he’s also one of Rossi’s old riding buddies) via Twitter earlier today: “Non avrei mai lasciato la Sbk,ma lei ha lasciato me!Non ne sarò più il commentatore tecnico, Biaggi sarà al mio posto, peccato! Arrivederci – I would have never have left SBK, but she left me.
I’ll no longer be the technical commentator, Biaggi will be taking my place, what a shame.

Sportmediaset bought the broadcasting rights to World Superbikes signing a three-year deal and will now air both MotoGP and WSBK, Superstock and Supersport championships this season on Italia 1 and 2, but in 2014 MotoGP will be aired exclusively on Sky Italy and to a paying audience.
