“Mary Lowry Sentenced for Fatal Carelessness”

Mary Lowry, a resident of Green Road, Dundrum in Tipperary, has been issued a suspended sentence for her conviction of causing death by careless driving. She accepted responsibility for the unfortunate demise of Patrick Connolly, 51, from Skehennarinky in the south west of Tipperary, following a vehicular incident on December 28th, 2021, while he was involved in a charitable motorbike event.

The Clonmel Circuit Court sentenced the mother-of-three to a one-year suspension and prohibited her from driving for an equal amount of time.

Lowry gained recognition for her critical testimony in the murder trial of Patrick Quirke. Her romantic partner, Bobby Ryan, often referred to as “Mr Moonlight” due to his work as a DJ, mysteriously disappeared on June 3rd, 2011 post leaving her house at 6.30 am. After nearly two years, on April 30th, 2013, Ryan’s body was discovered in an underground septic tank on the farm she owned which was at that time rented by Quirke.

The prosecution alleged that Quirke committed the crime with the intent to reignite a romantic relationship with Lowry. Post losing an appeal against his conviction, Quirke is currently serving a compulsory life imprisonment term.
