Marco Melandri has injured himself more times than we can count and runs a very close second to Dani Pedrosa for riding injured; even this year he highsided during Friday’s practice session at Assen, dislocating his shoulder and had to skip the race.
Now the newbie Sterilgarda Yamaha superbike rider informed his fans via his Twitter profile (even Italian riders have finally discovered the social network) that he had to undergo is shoulder scan last week after suffering “big pain for no reason.
”Evidently the scan ruled out any problems and a relieved Melandri twitted “Everything is going good… just getting old.
Need to be back on my R1 as soon as possible!” but apparently the shoulder is still acting up as he wrote yesterday “Bad present for christmas… For sure better now then in a month… Hope to be ready for round 1…”.
which sounds pretty ominous and seems to seriously put in doubt Melandri’s complete fitness for his debut at the WSBK opening round at Phillip Island February 27th.
