Marco Melandri recovering after shoulder surgery

Marco Melandri underwent shoulder surgery yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) to find a solution to the nagging problems that have been afflicting him since his crash last season during race 1 at Portimao, and that have worried him throughout the pre-season.
The BMW Goldbet rider had to grit his teeth not only to ride through the pain barrier during the first round of the season at Phillip Island, but he also had to do it after being clipped by Alstare’s Carlos Checa in race 1 that sent him crashing and further hurting his already damaged right shoulder that went out of place, but he was still able to ride to a gutsy third place in race 2.

Melandri tweeted this photo and wrote that he is happy and the surgery went well and that he now just has to rest and get better.
The Italian has almost six weeks to recover before the second round of WSBK season takes place at the MotorLand Aragon circuit on April 14th.
