Marc Marquez takes 6th pole position at Sachsenring

Moto2’s qualifying session at Sachsenring was held in very tricky mixed conditions, it started dry and then it rained and they the rain stopped in the final minutes improving the track conditions as the riders began throwing down fast laps as the chequered flag was waving and it was Marc Marquez who grabbed the pole position – his sixth of the 2012 season.

Leaving his best lap for last the CatalunyaCaixa Repsol rider blazed through the technical track in 1.
34’503, pipping by just 0.
045s Blusens Avintia’s Julián Simón who had his best session ever this year, and completing the front row is Marc VDS Racing Team’s Mika Kallio, who also had his best qualifying session.
If it’s strange to see Simon and Kallio up front, the second row will see Tech 3 Racing’s Xavier Simon in fourth, and this despite his crashing out on his final hot lap.
Joining Simeon will with Federal Oil Gresini Moto2’s Gino Rea who took a stunning fifth spot pipping Interwetten-Paddock’s Thomas Lüthi for the spot by just 0.

037s.
Wet weather specialist Anthony West took his Moriwaki to the seventh spot for QMMF, ahead of NGM Mobile Forward Racing’s Alex de Angelis.
Bradley Smith was ninth, but he crashed out with 16 minutes to go and that pushed him back, while Andrea Iannone could only qualify tenth.
For Pol Espargaró it will be an uphill race after crashing out at Assen, as he only managed 17th and almost suffered a massive highside in the final minutes.
Scott Redding who was on the podium in the last two races, went even worse he qualified only 26th.
The tricky conditions also caught out Axel Pons and Ricky Cardus.
