An inquiry has been launched after a man in his early 40s lost his life in a job-related incident in County Cavan which happened on Tuesday. This marks the second fatal workplace occurrence in that area within less than a week. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has acknowledged the incident but noted that no additional details are available at present.
This incident follows the tragic loss of Reece Donohoe, a 17-year-old lad, who also lost his life in a workplace accident just the previous week. Reece was cherished for his spirited personality and left a significant impression at his funeral on Tuesday.
An unjustly sacked Irish Wix employee, who criticised Israel on social media, describes feeling ‘ostracised’. Following the teenager’s passing at the Wilton Waste metal scrap and recycling facility at Kiffagh, near the town of Ballyjamesduff in County Cavan on the 13th of June, the HSA has launched an inquiry.
The unfortunate accident happened just after 4.30pm when the young man was on duty. The emergency services, comprising local police, fire brigade, and ambulances, were quickly on the scene, but the young man was pronounced deceased on-site.
A post-mortem was performed last Friday, and a dossier is being compiled for the local Coroner’s Court. Wilton Waste, on commenting about the incident, expressed their “deepest sympathies” to Reece Donohoe’s family during this difficult period. As a tribute to the late youth, the firm made the decision to keep their Ballyjamesduff premises closed until an unspecified future date.
