Danny Mandroiu, a 25-year-old midfielder, has recently joined Shamrock Rovers in a deal which will last until the season’s conclusion. Mandroiu was let go by Lincoln City, a club in English League One, after contract negotiations fell through over the summer. The player, who has experience with Bohemians and Rovers, is likely to participate in the upcoming Europa League playoff against PAOK in Greece.
Shamrock Rovers’ manager, Stephen Bradley, expressed overwhelming joy about Mandroiu’s return, appreciating his prior contributions to the club both on and off the field before he departed in 2022. Knowing that Mandroiu had alternative opportunities in England, Bradley expressed gratitude towards the club’s efforts in securing his return and eagerly looks forward to his re-integration into the team.
Danny Mandroiu, who earned seven caps with Ireland’s U21 team and is also qualified to play for Romania, received a call to the senior squad by prior Ireland manager, Stephen Kenny, in 2021. However, he was never capped from the bench in matches against Andorra or Hungary.
Returning to Rovers for the next five months, Mandroiu shared his gratitude towards Bradley, CEO John Martin, and the club’s board. He also highlighted the appeal of participating in the group stages of a Uefa contest, a career milestone few professional footballers get to experience. Being able to do this alongside his Rovers teammates and in the presence of their passionate fans makes this opportunity even more special. Anticipating the remaining games for the Europe and league title, he also hopeful of capturing the attention of a prospective new international manager.
