A male suspect has been apprehended in connection to a triple stabbing murder case in Manchester, England, following the fatal injuring of a 43-year-old woman. The incident, which took place in Gorton, an eastern district of Manchester, also resulted in a 17-year-old girl and a 64-year-old man being hospitalised with severe injuries, according to police officials.
The person apprehended was a 22-year-old man who police said was familiar to the victims. Law enforcement determined the violent incident to be not part of a larger pattern but rather an isolated event. The scene of the crime, a residence on Barnard Road, saw the presence of armed police officers close to midnight on Sunday.
The following Monday saw the set up of three forensic tents in the vicinity – one in front of a house, one in a front garden and one on the main road. Detective Superintendent Toby Facey expressed understanding towards the concern and shock among the residents of not just the local community but the entirety of Greater Manchester. His sympathies were also extended to those affected and their families at such a trying time. He assured support for them and stated actions were underway immediately post the incident with police presence at the scene within minutes.
