Man Shot in Co Derry Robbery

The police have confirmed that a man was severely injured, possibly facing life-altering consequences, in a shooting incident in Co Derry. According to reports, this incident, which occurred in a residence located in the Mettican Road area of Garvagh, took place just before 9pm on a Tuesday, affecting two victims.

A police representative from PSNI stated that an investigation into a case of an exacerbated home invasion is currently underway. Reports have indicated that a group of masked assailants targeted and attacked two men at the property, resulting in gruesome injuries, including multiple gunshot wounds to the limbs for one victim.

“The two victims were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention, and one of them, the shooting victim, is suffering from severe injuries that could possibly lead to life-long changes,” expressed the representative, while appealing for public assistance in providing any information regarding the case.

Cara Hunter, an SDLP MLA, has described the attack as ominously threatening, leaving two victims hospitalised following a violent encounter with masked assailants during what appears to be a home invasion. One victim is dealing with severe injuries with a potential for long-term effects.

Hunter outlined the seriousness of the terrifying event, emphasising locals’ concerns about the alarming use of firearms. “The individuals involved in this violent attack must be immediately apprehended and brought to justice for public safety.” She further expressed her hopes for the victims’ rapid and complete recovery, urging the public to share any information they might have about the incident with the police.
