A man named Karl O’Reilly (40) from Higginstown Wood, Granard, Co Longford, faced a court hearing via video link in Bray District Court on Thursday afternoon. The charges against him encompassed false imprisonment, assault, threats to kill or inflict serious harm, as well as knife possession.
Two sets of alleged incidents, one of them dated February 28th in Co Longford, involving false imprisonment and threats to harm, and the other on March 12th in Arklow, Co Wicklow, embracing additional counts of false imprisonment, threats, and brandishing a knife, formed the basis of his on-going custody orders.
Representing Mr O’Reilly, barrister Gregory Murphy BL disclosed to Judge Mark O’Connell that they were still anticipating instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions related to this matter. The accused briefly announced that he had no objections against further detention for four weeks and sought to confirm the particulars of his next counsel meeting.
Subsequently, the case was ordered by Judge O’Connell to reconvene on April 18th.
