“Man Remanded for Daena Walsh’s Murder”

At a recent hearing in the Mallow District Court, 29-year-old Adam Corcoran was further detained in relation to the killing of his life-partner, Daena Walsh (27). The incident occurred at their common residence, John Barry House in Midleton, Co Cork, on the 2nd of August. Corcoran was formally accused of the crime last Sunday.

Walsh, a mother to two children and originally from Roundwood, Co Wicklow, was found lifeless and with multiple injuries in their upstairs apartment, following an alerted fire incident by the emergency services. The devastating news has left behind her young sons, Ezra and Kyson, her mother Caroline and her brothers Paul, Robbie, Callum, and Noah.

During Tuesday’s court proceedings, presided over by Judge Marie Keane, Corcoran from Ballincollig, appeared via video link. The counsel representing the prosecution, Insp Tony O’Sullivan, proposed that Corcoran be held in custody for an additional two weeks. This was consented to by Corcoran’s defence lawyer, Pat Horan. Judge Keane has thus scheduled his next court appearance for the 20th of August.

A funeral service to commemorate Walsh is planned at 11am on Wednesday in St Laurence O’Toole’s Church of Roundwood, to be succeeded by a cremation at McCrea’s Cremation Chapel in Wicklow.
