Man in Dublin Court for Murder

A man from Belfast has been apprehended in Dublin by police in connection with the killing of 22-year-old Mary Ward in Belfast. He is set to face charges at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin (Court No. 4) at half past ten on Friday morning.

Miss Ward, also 22, passed away on 25th September, though her body wasn’t found until six days later, when officers came to her south Belfast residence over a separate issue. The man was located and detained in Dublin by gardaí on Wednesday.

The operation to locate the man was spearheaded by detectives from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation. It was announced by the PSNI on Thursday that An Garda Síochána will now take over the lead role in the investigation into Miss Ward’s death, with the PSNI continuing to provide support.
