“Man Dies, Four Rescued at Cork Beach”

A man in his mid-life tragically lost his life after struggling in the sea as he attempted to save a group of youths on Friday afternoon at Inch Beach, located close to Roches Point in County Cork. The Coastguard station in Valentia, County Kerry was alerted around 3pm about five individuals struggling in the waters of Inch Beach.

The man was retrieved from the sea in grave condition and received immediate medical attention from paramedics on the beach. Four others were rescued from the water. He was consequently transported to Cork University Hospital via ambulance, where he unfortunately passed away subsequent to the incident.

Search and rescue units from Guileen and Crosshaven, along with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution from Ballycotton and Crosshaven, converged on the scene. Additionally, Rescue Helicopter 117 from Waterford was mobilized. Local law enforcement and the Fire Service were in attendance, and the Irish Naval Service was on standby to assist if required.
