A man, who had exited from a nightclub where hostages were held up during a prolonged standoff, has been apprehended by the Dutch authorities. In a recent update on Platform X, the police stated: “The final hostage has now been freed. We have placed one individual under arrest. Further details cannot be disclosed for now.”
The individual was instructed by armed officers to kneel, with his hands placed on his head as he exited from the club situated in Ede. Subsequent to being handcuffed, he was guided into a police vehicle.
A part of the Dutch town was barricaded by well-armed police previously, declaring there were “no signs pointing towards a terrorist motive”. Located in Ede, the hostages were contained within Cafe Petticoat, a well-liked nightclub and bar, as documented by an Associated Press videographer present on location.
On the assumption of a potential threat to both themselves and others from an individual in the vicinity, the police carried out evacuation procedures of 150 residences around a prime square in the town. Recent images from the cordoned-off region in Ede — a rustic market town positioned 85km southeast of Amsterdam — depict the presence of law enforcement and fire brigade on the streets.
The local governing body declared that all businesses within Ede’s town centre would continue to remain shut.
