A male suspect has been taken into custody by the Gardai after a serious assault on a woman in her home in northern Dublin over the weekend. It was reported that the woman had been struck with a knife on the neck and had been admitted to the hospital on Sunday evening for emergency care. Whilst the woman’s conditions were extreme, police disclosed that she was fortunate to have escaped the assault with her life.
The emergency response services, including Garda members and paramedics, were on the scene in Clonshaugh, Dublin 17, early Saturday morning after reports of violence at a private property, which is the residence of the victim.
The injured woman, in her thirties, was severely wounded when found at the scene. She received immediate care by the paramedics before being taken to Beaumont Hospital in the vicinity for further treatment. While the crime location was cordoned off by the Gardai, several residents of the locality, who were also the first ones to alert the authorities, were interviewed as potential witnesses.
Post the attack that took place about 12.25 am on Saturday, a dude in his forties was seized by the Gardai. The apprehension of the individual took place during following searches. The property was kept cordoned off by the Gardai throughout the weekend for members of the Garda Technical Bureau to conduct a thorough investigation. Despite the severity of the injuries, the Gardai are hopeful for a complete recovery of the victim.
