Man Charged for Damaging State Buildings

A middle-aged male has been arraigned for his involvement in several acts of criminal damage to a number of State properties early last Friday. He is currently detained by the Garda and is due to make his case in the Dublin District Court on Saturday morning. This individual is to answer for five incidents of forceful collision in Dublin, which includes sites such as Áras an Uachtaráin, and four separate governmental locations, distributed over an estimated distance of 7km.

The official quarters of the President, and the entrance of the Housing Department at Custom House Quay, suffered damages along with three different entrances at the Government Buildings, and the Taoiseach’s office. Particularly noticeable degradation was witnessed at the Taoiseach’s department and the Leinster Lawn gates on Friday, even though they remain standing.

One of a pair of gates nearby the Attorney General’s office suffered an additional hit, dislodging it from its frame. These gates shield an alleyway adjacent and behind the AG’s office, and at it’s rear, the Departments of Finance and Agriculture are located.

The white van, used for these forceful impacts, incurred significant damage to both its front and back. The vehicle was appropriated by the Garda around 8am on Friday and was taken away for further technical inspection.
