A male individual has been apprehended in Co Galway on the back of a significant cannabis confiscation worth €278,000. The discovery was made during a residential search in Indreabhán, where an illegal cannabis cultivation site was unearthed. This site housed 260 cannabis plants that are deemed to be worth around €208,000. Moreover, dried cannabis herb amounting to approximately €70,000 was also found.
A gentleman in his forties was detained post the search operation. The seized narcotics are set to be further examined by Forensic Science Ireland. The Galway Divisional Drugs Unit, with additional support from the Armed Support Unit, carried out this operation.
The arrested individual has now been officially charged and is scheduled to face a special session of the Galway District Court at half past six on Friday evening.
