UK Revenue officials at Dublin Airport on Monday found approximately 7.8kg of cocaine, with an estimated worth of €546,000, concealed amongst clothes in a man’s luggage. The man, who is in his 30s, had travelled to Dublin from Brazil, with a stopover in Madrid. Identified as a potential trafficker following a risk assessment, the man was subsequently arrested by the Gardaí. He was held at a police station in Dublin in accordance with section 2 of the 1996 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act. Since his arrest, he has been charged and made an appearance at the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ) in Dublin.
