In a collaborated operation in North Kerry on Thursday, a man was detained under drug trafficking laws after authorities recovered nearly €90,000 worth of herbal cannabis. The operation was a joint effort between the Revenue’s Customs Service, the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau of the Garda, and the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit, which led to the seizure of approximately €88,000 worth of herbal cannabis in the Listowel vicinity. The man, who is in his late teens, was taken into custody and held at a local Garda station under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act. He has been charged and is to appear in court at a subsequent date. The probe continues to be active.
