An enormous blaze is currently ablaze at an industrial park in Newry, Co Down. Observers noted fire and dense smoke plumes billowing from the location of the inferno at Greenbank Industrial Park on Ballinacraig Way. The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) was on scene to tackle the fire on Saturday afternoon.
Half a dozen vehicles and a multitude of manpower were swiftly sent to the location. The local community was cautioned about the potential dangers and advised to steer clear of the area. A NIFRS representative stated: “Our crews are presently handling a continuing occurrence at an industrial unit in Greenback Industrial Park, Newry.”
“At the moment, six fire trucks and a team of 48 are executing firefighting strategies. We want to encourage the general public to stay out of the area if they can, and for those living close by to ensure their doors and windows are securely shut.” – PA
