“Maguire Leads After Aramco Series Round”

Leona Maguire, a double LPGA Tour victor, still awaits her first championship win on the Ladies European Tour. She launched her campaign at the Centurion Club, just outside of London, with an impressive bogey-free round of seven-under-par 66 for the Aramco Series by PIF event, securing the top spot in the first round. The Ladies European Tour novelty includes both a team and separate individual contests happening concurrently. Maguire set a strong precedent early upon her European return after a whirlwind first-half year featuring 14 matches, predominantly held in the US and Asia. In the subsequent weeks, Maguire’s attention will centre on European contests, with two upcoming Majors, the successive week’s Evian, the AIG Women’s Open, and the Paris Olympics. The Irish golfer started off in an extraordinary way in breezy weather to take a one-shot lead over Austria’s Sarah Schober. Kildare’s professional golfer Lauren Walsh, a newcomer to the Ladies European Tour, made a sound start with a level par 73, placing in the tied-24th position. Charley Hull, revered Solheim Cup golfer, had to withdraw merely six holes in due to sickness.
