The mishap took place at Junction Six Northbound on the city’s main ring road. As local police and emergency teams were on the scene, diversions were set up, leading to anticipated delays, according to the Gardaí. Following the accident, Dublin Airport urged passengers to set off for the airport earlier due to the expected hold-ups.
They stated: “Passengers heading towards Dublin Airport should be aware of delays on the northbound M50 due to a vehicular accident at Junction 6 (Lucan). Diversions are presently established at Lucan exits. We recommend planning your journey accordingly and checking with @GardaTraffic for the latest updates.”
The M50’s X account indicated that lanes were presently shut from J7 Lucan northbound due to a significant collision. They advised: “Traffic is heavily congested. If feasible, we advise staying clear of the area.”
