“Lucy Letby’s Appeal Over Baby Murders Denied”

Lucy Letby, a UK nurse, was unsuccessful in her appeal against her conviction for the murder of seven infants and the attempted murder of six others last Friday. 34-year-old Letby was declared guilty of the murder of five male infants and two female infants at the Countess of Chester hospital’s neonatal unit in the north of England last year.

During a hearing in April, Letby posited four appeal reasons related to allegations that the trial judge improperly rejected her applications during her trial. Nevertheless, the Court of Appeal, in a brief session held on Friday, rejected her appeal outright.

“We have resolved to deny the appeal on all grounds,” asserted Judge Victoria Sharp while articulating the court’s verdict. She also added that a comprehensive written verdict will be made available at a future date. It’s important to note that further details cannot be provided due to legal constraints.

It is expected that Letby will confront a retrial on a single charge of attempted murder at the Manchester Crown Court in the forthcoming month.
