It has been reported that former Wolves, Real Madrid, and Spain coach, Julen Lopetegui, is on course to take the reins at West Ham, subject to the potential departure of current manager David Moyes. Moyes, who has been West Ham’s leader since 2019, refuses to discuss his future at the club, as his contract is set to expire at the conclusion of this season. His silence continues to prevail despite their last match scheduled at Manchester City on May 19th.
Recently, West Ham’s chances of participating in four consecutive European competitions suffered a setback following a 5-0 drubbing from Chelsea. This heavy loss was an addition to their previous 2-2 tie with Liverpool and 5-2 defeat to Crystal Palace, leaving them at ninth position in Premier League, with just two matches remaining.
Last season’s victors in the Europa Conference League, the Hammers, were evicted from the Europa League last month, succumbing to a quarterfinal loss against Bayer Leverkusen.
In the previous season, Lopetegui, who has also held managerial positions at Porto and Sevilla, steered Wolves clear of relegation. However, he decided to part ways after a nine-month tenure, just before the commencement of the new Premier League season in August. Under his stewardship, the Wolves team climbed from the last to the 13th position in the league.
