Leon Haslam recovering from nerve surgery

Pata Honda’s World Superbike team will be testing ahead of the Aragon round, at the Motorland Aragon circuit on April 2-4 and then at the Alcarras circuit, always in Spain, on April 7-8.
Leon Haslam who joined the Dutch based team this season, told the official SBK website that the team will be have numerous upgrades to test before the upcoming round, and also revealed that he had to undergo surgery during the long break between the two rounds.

The British rider was forced to go under the knife again to fix two nerves that were causing him issues since last Christmas after the removal of two screws that were inserted into his broken leg, after he crashed during testing, just before last year’s opening round in Australia.
“I got one nerve removed an one repaired from when I broke my leg last year in Australia.
One of the nerves was trapped in the hole that was there when the screw was removed, one of the other nerve was damaged with the removal of the screw.
It’s something that’s been injuring me since Christmas, I had a lot of pain through it.

The strength and everything have been there, it’s just been quite frustrating because I wasn’t able to train like I wanted to.
I just wait for the scar to stick together and once it happens it’ll be back to normal.
Haslam finished 7th and 10th in the 2013 opening round at Phillip Island.
