Lebanon Faces a Humanitarian Emergency

Sir, the persistent attacks on Lebanon are inflicting a lethal toll on its inhabitants. The death count, over the last fortnight, surpasses 1,200, with a boom in the numbers of significantly harmed individuals, a figure exceeding the casualties of the destructive war of 2006.

Previously viewed as a gem in the Arab world, the healthcare network is battling to sustain the high strain subjected to it every hour. Notwithstanding the diligent efforts by Firas Abiad, the Lebanese acting health minister, the system is frankly swamped.

Drawing upon years of personal involvement in delivering relief aid within Lebanon, it’s crucial that we collaborate with the pre-existing health structure. It’s our collective responsibility to advocate for resilient ways to shield the weak health system from this constant adversity.

Meanwhile, on the ground, Goal is partnering with local organisations in Lebanon to deliver necessary relief aid to the displaced inhabitants.

The Lebanese society that is caught in this conflict undeniably deserves superior conditions. Therefore, more than ever, our support as a nation to Lebanon is essential.

Yours sincerely,
Colin Lee,
