Your news article concerning the cancellation of the proposed hate speech legislation (“Hate speech law proposal scrapped, confirmed by Justice Minister”, News, September 21) overlooked to acknowledge the common people’s resistance. This group’s aversion towards such a rigid mandate was vividly depicted and given substantial exposure not just in your newspaper but in other print platforms as well. It ought to be noted that the plan was deemed contentious not only by backbench MPs, opposition parties, and campaigners for freedom of speech but also by technology magnate Elon Musk.
