According to Spanish website Solo Moto and Italian Gpone, former two times BSB Champion Gregorio Lavilla has signed with Guandalini Racing to wildcard at this weekend’s WSBK double header at Assen.
The Spanish rider was also contacted by Guandalini Team to test ride Smrz’s Ducati 1098 R during last week’s CIV, but the race was cancelled due to oil on the track and bad weather and gossip has it that the team is unhappy with Brendan Roberts and is thinking of substituting him with Lavilla.
Lavilla lost his ride when Pro Ride Honda folded due to sponsorship woes and the economic crisis and did not even start the season.
At the present Lavilla is playing mentor to the 125cc riders of the Grand Prix Derbi Racing Team.
