KTM has some lovely bikes at the EICMA show in Milan, and despite the economic crisis has turned up in all seriousness to display some fine models.
The main news from KTM is the new Duke 690 R sports version of the standard model.
It has a sensational 70 hp single-cylinder motor, the most powerful in this class, and equipping a rigid trellis frame.
It has light, 17-inch wheels and WP suspension, with TiAIN forks.
The radial callipers, four piston Brembo brakes are a cut above the rest, and the bike is complete with carbon fibre mudguard and black tint.
On this new bike, KTM says:At the EICMA 2009, KTM, with the 690 Duke R, presents the most powerful single-cylinder of all times that is registered for the road – the just 148 kg-light motorcycle comes in at 70 hp.
A sleek and sensationally agile chassis, fitted through and through with high quality components and the extremely purist sporty Duke style completes the latest LC4 model.
KTM models at EICMA Also in its strongest stage of development KTM’s LC4 single is not only the most powerful but also the most modern single cylinder in the world, super reliable, extremely maintenance friendly and with a singularly logical structure.
Thanks to the longer stroke (84.
5 instead of 80 cm) and the displacement expanded to 690 ccm the 690 Duke R produces a juicy 70 hp top performance and 70 Nm maximum torque, which is produced in a unique, spontaneous and wonderfully cultivated single cylinder manner.
Thanks to the Electronic Power Throttle (EPT) the motor management monitors the fuel instructions of the rider.
KTM has also brought its brand new motocross bike to the show: the SX-F 350 Factory.
This four-stroke motocross race motorcycle with 350 cm³ is near series-ready and should be a very exciting model for this segment.
In product news, KTM says:A new concept does not however mean that KTM will place less importance on its traditional models – KTM is still governed by the will to win and the stop watch.
Therefore for the 2010 season, the well-known, newly presented 2010 models – the SX 250-F in MX2 and the SX450-F in MX1 will be in the starting lists.
And, as in 2009, they will surely continue to celebrate great success in 2010.
Meanwhile the “Project-350” continues to run at high pressure.
With these moves, KTM’s traditional obligation to its customers remains completely valid: What the factory riders’ use on the track is always also available for sale.
On display is also the KTM RC8 R Akrapovic Edition and the RC8 R Red Bull Edition.
We’ll be bringing you more, including the beautiful KTM 125 prototype, and you can check out all the new colours and designs in this official gallery.
