Korda Defeats Maguire in Vegas Final

Nelly Korda emerged victorious in her fourth consecutive tournament, outperforming Leona Maguire from Ireland during the final in the T-Mobile Match Play. On the Leopard Creek course in Las Vegas, Korda, who holds the world number one spot, clinched four out of the first seven holes, leading to her 4&3 triumph.

Maguire, who excelled in the strokeplay round of the competition before the ultimate eight title contenders progressed to matchplay, managed to clinch the ninth before being set five behind on the twelfth. Even after two birdies from Maguire, Korda wrapped up the match by the fifteenth.

After a pause of seven weeks post her first win in Florida in January, Korda has seized victory in all three of her tournaments. This achievement marks the first time since Lorena Ochoa’s success in 2008 that a player has clinched four consecutive starts on the LPGA Tour.

Korda stands a chance to tie the record of five successive wins, currently held by Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam, with a win in the first major of the season, the Chevron Championship scheduled in the coming two weeks.
