Regarding the article written by Emer McLysaght titled “Six Irish cultural touchstones for Barry Keoghan’s popstar girlfriend Sabrina Carpenter”, featured in Arts & Ideas published on June 14th, I would like to address her skepticism concerning the existence of an equatable celebrity in the US to our own famed Mattress Mick. I can assure you that the United States does indeed have a comparable character – Mattress Mack, also known as Jim McIngvale. He has built his reputation not only as a mattress tycoon, but has also landed in the public eye for his propensity to gamble large sums on sporting occasions like the Superbowl and display his generosity by returning any profits won to his dedicated customers.
