A female fan from Ireland, who got the chance to join Adele onstage during a concert at Munich Messe in Germany, has described the opportunity to hug her hero as a “surreal” moment. The fan, Paula Jones, a mother of three from Allenwood, Co Kildare, was at the concert with her husband, Frank. Clips of the event, where Adele was joined by Paula on stage, have been seen globally by over six million viewers.
Paula, who kissed Adele, leaving a lipstick stain on her face, was also seen explaining that her husband had left his seat to get more Prosecco. At one point, Adele even tried out Paula’s sunglasses. “You are, without doubt, the most eccentric fan I’ve ever had onstage,” commented the singer.
An ecstatic Paula responded saying, “You are aware that I’m Irish … and around here with my partner Frank.” Promptly, Adele responded with, “Frank from Ireland, I have your crazy wife Paula standing here next to me.” The entire incident was showcased on a gigantic screen, spanning 220m in length and 30m in height.
On Monday, in her interview to RTÉ Radio 1’s Oliver Callan, Paula Jones expressed, “I believe I’m still on cloud nine, but yes, I’m attempting to manage the lingering adrenaline.” She further added, “The overall experience was completely surreal, a chance to meet my heroine. Not only seeing her live in concert but being singled out amongst 80,000 audience members to join her on stage. Absolutely a moment worth pinching myself.”
In reflecting on her enthusiastic reactions caught in video footage, Ms. Jones wholeheartedly affirmed how thrilled she was at the chance to meet Adele. As she described, her reactions emerged spontaneously to the friendly and inviting interaction from the celebrated singer. Adele, according to Ms. Jones, had welcomed her like a good friend. She was warm, attractive and loved indulging in colloquial chatter. Ms. Jones admitted she spent time with the star as if with a good pal.
The sparkly outfit that Ms. Jones wore made her stand out, and she was requested by Adele to share her energetic vibe. Elaborating on the magnitude of the event, she detailed that the performance stage occupied a vast 43,000 square feet. She further gestured towards the enormity of the venue by referring to a screen that was 720ft wide and 98ft high. She mentioned that the expansive arena included additional attractions like bars and a ferris wheel.
Upon returning home, she expressed how pleased her family was, her sons and extended family alike. As she identified herself as a normal Irish mother from Allenwood, Kildare who was married to a man named Frank, she expressed relief that her teen sons were supportive and not embarrassed by her. She shared the surprising news of becoming famous according to them, which emerged amidst an outpour of support from their friends.
She further revealed that she received an encouraging message from Adele’s make-up artist, which she greatly appreciated. The world’s reactions to her had been overwhelming and she was extremely delighted.
