Despite experiencing a challenging start to its financial year, Danish furniture corporation Jysk managed to increase its customer base in Ireland by 24%, laying the groundwork for additional expansion in the country. Roni Tuominen, who is in charge of their UK and Ireland operations, expressed satisfaction with the company’s performance in Ireland despite an unexceptional summer season.
As stated by Tuominen, Jysk aims to establish 30 more stores across Ireland within the next year. This announcement comes on the heels of a 7.6% increase in turnover, elevating the company’s earnings to €5.6 billion. The year 2024 saw an unprecedented growth of Jysk’s global customer base by 8.1 million, setting a new record.
Rami Jensen, Jysk’s CEO and President, attributed the record-breaking turnovers to the company’s commitment to competitive pricing and the quality of its products.
Germany was identified as the company’s largest market for the year 2024. The same year, the company inaugurated 137 new stores across Europe, matching almost identically with the 135 opened in 2023.
Currently, Jysk operates 24 stores in Ireland, with its latest outlets in Liffey Valley and Kilkenny. Notably, the Liffey Valley store has been performing exceptionally well according to Tuominen.
Presently, merchandise destined for Ireland is stored in Denmark, stated Mr Tuominen. However, plans are underway to transition to the Netherlands, citing sustainability and bringing their products closer to the customers as the primary considerations.
Jysk is set to release its annual report, including specific details related to Irish operations, on the 28th of November.
